I had heard good things about this Peltor hearing protector as a shooting aid and so I bought one. This is the best one I have ever used; all nearby voice communication very clear and distinct no matter how noisy the shooting gets. The automatic shutoff after 2 hrs is also very handy.

After going to many pistol classes and not always being able to hear the instructors while wearing my regular ear protection I decided to buy a pair. The instructor recommended these so I bought a pair. When out shooting they are great. You can hear everything. I took them with me when I went deer hunting. If you crank up the volume you can hear everything in the woods. I could hear a deer walking in a creek to ridges over.

These are excellent hearing protectors that allow you to hear ambient sound. They fit well, provide sufficient protection, and seem to respond quickly to sharp sonic spikes, like gunfire. I have no problem with them from a purely functional perspective. However, if Peltor is going to go ahead and advertise that you can hook up your MP3 player to them, it would be nice if they mentioned that all the music you'll hear will be in mono, not stereo. It's a great feature - I just wonder why they couldn't take it the simple one-step-further and give us good audio. Probably in the next release....
