We already had a bunk bed, which we purchased from Bunk Bed King. We needed a loft bed after we found out we were having a girl and needed to move our third son in with the other two. What we liked about this bed was that the boys would still have plenty of floor space for playing. The finish on the loft bed is much more beautiful then the bunk bed, even though they were both "Expresso." It was also a lot easier to put together. We are very satisified and especially loved the hassle free shipping and handling, and it arrived 6 days ahead of schedule.

The overall quality of the base camp loft bed is pretty good, nice quality wood and general construction.
There was one significant assembly problem however - as with all prefab kits like this one, holes are predrilled to make assembly a process of lining up screws and holes to corresponding pieces. Everything lined up as expected except for one side of the lower bed assembly where the long lower wood rail attaches to each end - one side of the bed had holes while the other did not; in fact the side that had holes and predrilled holes on each leg rather than just the one needed for actual assembly.
As a result, it was necessary to get out the power tools and carefully drill the missing 3 holes - one for the dowel and 2 for the screws. Care was required to use a pattern from the holes already on the one side of the bed so that corresponding holes could be drilled at the precise height and distance because if it were not done correctly, the crossbar would not attach in the correct location.
The final assembly as a success. One other thing - many of the screws are 3 or more inches long and it is a long tedious, not to mention finger killer, to use the included small allen wrench - a good power drill with allen head attachment speeds things up considerably.

Bought 2 of these and was able to put them together in about 4 hours by myself. (I am pretty competent with tools). The only tool really necessary and helpful was a power drill with a hex drive head. It really sturdied up. There was one misprint in the directions that made me take a piece apart and reverse it. It caught me the first time and almost the second time.
Our girls love the beds. I have to figure out what to do with the old 2 box springs now.
