I was always apprehensive of taking my external hard drive with me while I travel, the reason being it is made of plastic and I had the fear that if I mishandle the device it would leave a crack. Now I need not worry about this any more, thanks to Iomega Helium External Hard drive. The aluminum outer cover gives it a tough look and feel. I am confident that nothing is going to happen to my external drive even in toughest of conditions.

Despite using aluminum the device weights just 8.2 ounces. The LED indicates that the drive is running, this is a good idea, else it would be difficult to find out if the drive is working, the reason being Helium is absolutely noiseless when it is running. On the whole a trendy and a durable portable drive for my day to day travel.

Iomega Helium 500GB external hard drive is with me for a long time now and I have come to share my experience of this great drive. The Helium is stylish and compact and hence is highly portable. The storage capacity is 500GB and I have stored a great deal of movies and music onto the device. So far not once has my disk crashed. The drive is USB powered and hence there is no requirement to draw power from a power source. The Helium matched my MacBook well.

Talking of security features the pack comes with Iomega Protection Suite consisting of Trend Smart surfing especially for Mac and MozyHome Online backup software with 2GB free online storage space. The Helium comes with AES 256 bit hardware encryption to secure all the data on the drive.
